Shilpgram, Udaipur |
Covering around 70 acres of land, the complex houses 26 huts, each belonging to a different member state. Craftsmen and artists can also be seen here. They come with the hope of learning something from the seminars and camps and also showcase the skills they possess. The Shilpgram Fair is held every year in the month of November-December. The fair continues for 10 days. The fair is organized with the aim of promoting the local arts of the rural areas of Rajasthan. Shilpgram is just the perfect place to try out the mirror work, embroideries, handicrafts and hand woven clothes. Most of the visitors at the fair do grab the clothes that are hand-woven and items in leather. While you shop for handicrafts, catch a glimpse of the theatre festivals and traditional performances that enliven the whole atmosphere of the fair. These performances are held at the amphitheatre that has a seating capacity of 8,000 people. You can visit the complex any time between 11 in the morning to 7 in the evening. It remains open on all days. Foreign nationals have to pay rupees 25 while rupees 15 are paid by the Indian nationals.
